Achievements outside of the classroom
This week Jaimie brought in her player of the day trophy for playing soccer on the weekend. Way to go Jaimie!
Attenbeau
We received another video from Miss Daly's nephew Beau. This time he was setting rat traps with his Dad. He informed us that rats are the main predators of native birds eggs on Great Barrier Island. The traps they use are only for rats. Cats and dogs can't fit in the boxes so they wont get hurt by mistake. We are looking forward to his next instalment to see if they were successful.
Beau is going to share with us all of the ways that they are sustainable on Great Barrier Island, as it is very different to living in Auckland. They have no reticulated power (electricity companies) so they have solar power, windmills and generators. They grow lots of their own food and collect their own drinking water from the rainwater and the creeks. Beau is going to teach us some of the ways we can be more sustainable at home and school.
Room 10, you have been busy-bees! What did you enjoy most with the skateboarding lessons? Rael's cat ears are well-worn, they have been laid to rest 'RIP'. Great achievement Jaimie! From helping a dolphin to setting traps for rats and growing your own food - what next Attenbeau?
